NLP-Driven Media Arabic Education

2019 - 2022

The period 2019-2022 saw a rapid expansion of technology-mediated Arabic language learning driven by the COVID-19 disruption and Education 4.0 priorities. Learning ecosystems formed around popular mobile and social platforms, with WhatsApp, short-form media apps, and interactive quizzes enabling online teaching, learner engagement, and wider access across diverse contexts. Media-rich pedagogy became more prominent as interactive multimedia, film, and audio resources supported listening and speaking development, while Natural Language Processing methods increasingly targeted Arabic media for offensive language detection, sentiment analysis, and translation tasks, signaling a computational turn in media Arabic research.

Technology-mediated Arabic language learning proliferates across the COVID era and Education 4.0, integrating WhatsApp, Kahoot, TikTok, and online platforms to support online teaching, learner engagement, and access in diverse contexts [13], [5], [19], [4], [10], [9], [2].

Social media and mobile apps function as learning ecosystems, shaping student perceptions, motivation, and independent study in Arabic through platforms like WhatsApp, TikTok, and general social media integration [14], [5], [19], [9].

Media content, including interactive multimedia, film, and audio tools, is exploited to improve listening, speaking, and memorization skills in Arabic curricula, illustrating media-driven pedagogy [12], [17], [7].

Natural Language Processing (NLP) and related computational approaches are increasingly applied to Arabic media for offensive language detection, sentiment analysis, and translation tasks, reflecting a computational turn in media Arabic research [15], [11], [20], [6].
